photoblog image Rochester Cathedral

Rochester Cathedral

We had a walk around Rochester en route to Whitstable and I managed to whip the tripod out for this shot.....coincidentally featured in yesterday's episode of the BBC adaptation of Dickens' Mystery of Edward Drood.

A very good picture Fred. I like the color around the organ pipes.
Fred Adams: Thanks Frances, appreciated as ever!

I went there last year Fred. A fine building and one part of it, by the west door, simply pulsed with an amazing energy
Fred Adams: I really liked this building Chris, very unpretentious and all the more enjoyable for not being charged £10 pp that its rival Canterbury charges.
A beautiful capture. I like the depth of this image!
Fred Adams: Thanks Richard, much appreciated!

Fabulous POV, Fred. This is what I love about the great cathedrals of England and Europe.
Fred Adams: Thanks Ginnie - Rochester is quite plain in comparison to most, but a fascinating (and beautiful) structure nonetheless!
amazing rich on colors Fred, love that, it has warmth in it
Fred Adams: Thanks Chantal, I was very much taken by the colours of the subject too, so am pleased that comes across!

The problem with me and tripods, is that a never manage to 'whip' them out. The advantage is clear in this picture - sharp detail.
Fred Adams: Agreed that whipping out a tripod is something not easily done Louis, particularly without the attention of over-zealous officials to enforce perceived (but usually non-existent) health and safety risks! I usually carry a monopod to confound them!

Fabulous, great detail and clarity, the colours are so rich smile
Fred Adams: Thank you Linda, great appreciated, a bracketed exposure that really breathed life into the shot, whilst remaining very true to the overall ambience and colours.
jiuh..extra fine image, every detail is in order.
Fred Adams: Thanks Juan, this is a bracketed exposure lightly treated in photomatix!
Wow. fantastic capture. what focal point is the shot in??? Great capture
Fred Adams: Cheers Dami, appreciated - F4 aperture. Am heading to Canary Wharf on Friday for an ice-sculpting festival and to do some early evening cityscape photography if you're free?
I presume this is the Choir Fred, it is a lovely area of this building which is not one I have been to.
Fred Adams: Indeed & thanks Brian - I'd recommend Rochester, an afternoon of historical interest (the cathedral, the old town & the norman castle) all within easy walking distance.
Stunning. I wondered what they used in Drood last night. I don't know about you but I found the program tedious in the extreme and won't bother to watch the second part. i found i couldn't wait for the odious little oik to be throttled and hoped someone would do the same to his girlfriend who was as wet as a haddock's bathing costume
Fred Adams: Thanks Bill, much appreciated - I only caught the last 20 mins and was catching up with SC at the time, but my better half didn't bother with episode 2 - not a patch on Great Expectations it seems, which I did enjoy!
What an amazing interior, Fred. Lots of color and texture!
Fred Adams: Thanks Elizabeth - this for me was the most striking part of the cathedral, accentuated by the overt plainness of the grey walls!

Oh, what a wonderful Cathedral -and an excellent photograph you should show the Dean!
Fred Adams: Thanks Philine - it's not the most spectacular, be at least it's free (can't believe that Cathedrals can charge £10 admission here in Englnd) and also definitely worth the visit!
wow. this is excellent. i like it that there is no one else here to distract from all the details
Fred Adams: Thanks Ayush, greatly appreciated!

I have not seen this place but must add it to my list Fred. Gloriously colourful.
Fred Adams: Thanks Chad, I would recommend it!
Stunningly sharp Fred, colours so rich detailed even in the distance.
Fred Adams: Just spotted this Neil, thank you!
